About this plan

Weight-loss plans fail when they ask you to cook differently from everyone else in the house. Every meal here is a normal Indian dish — phulka and sabzi, khichdi, chilla, dal and rice — portioned and paired so the day lands near 1,400 kcal without any special ingredients.

Two things do the work. Protein appears at every single meal (paneer, dal, curd, sprouts, besan), because protein is what keeps a smaller portion from turning into an evening of snacking. And the grains lean towards oats, brown rice, ragi and daliya, which digest slowly enough to carry you between meals.

Quantities are for two adults for a week. This is a general plan for healthy adults, not a prescription — if you are managing a medical condition, are pregnant, or are under a doctor’s care, take it to them before you start.

What makes it work

  • Roughly 1,400 kcal a day from three normal meals — no shakes, no substitutes
  • Protein at every meal, so the portions hold rather than leaving you hungry by 4pm
  • Oats, brown rice, ragi and daliya instead of refined grains, without giving up roti and rice
  • Cooks alongside what the rest of the house is eating — the difference is portion and pairing

Questions about this plan

How much weight will I lose on this?
That depends on your body, your activity and where you are starting from — anyone quoting a number without knowing those is guessing. What a plan can honestly promise is a consistent, moderate calorie intake with enough protein to protect muscle. The rest is time.
I feel hungry between meals. What can I add?
Add a small bowl of curd, a fistful of roasted chana, buttermilk, or a fruit. Roughly 100–150 kcal of protein or fibre costs you very little and is far better than arriving at dinner ravenous. The plan fills breakfast, lunch and dinner only, so there is room.
Can I eat this if I am also doing strength training?
Increase the paneer, curd and dal portions by about a third and it works as a training-day plan. At the calories as written it is intended for a moderate deficit, not for building.
